highly specific mapping for the curious & adventurous

WTF is X Marks the Spot?

It is custom, highly specific mapping.
It is treasure maps & cultural maps.
It is not Rick Steves.

Cultural Maps

Gritty Guide to Denver

Originally named the “Anti-gentrification Guide to Denver” because these are establishments that don’t actively contribute to gentrification.

Sure, that’s hard to quantify. Put simply, those who have lived in that neighborhood for decades should be able to afford it. (This is continually evolving.)

Denver Unhoused Sweeps

With the “Urban Camping Ban,” the city of Denver made it illegal to survive on the streets.

Key: Yellow= swept on one date | Orange= same location swept on 2 different dates | Red= same spot, 3x | Dark Red= same spot, 4x | Maroon= same spot, 5x | Black= same spot, 6x

They perform “sweeps” in which they force the unhoused to vacate an area ... often times taking all of their belongings in the process (including blankets in winter). This is a map of all sweeps that have occurred in 2020 & 2021.

Treasure Maps

Shit to Hit: Colorado

Camping is COVID-proof! Especially when it’s dispersed. This is a map of [mostly] dispersed camping spots in Colorado.

Orange= free, dispersed | Green= paid

Be cautious, though ... some of these spots require 4x4 and/or high clearance! (I will do my best to make this clear in the pin’s notes.)

Shit to Hit: New Mexico

A map of favorite places in The Land of Enchantment I’ve been to or want to visit

lighter green tent= free, dispersed camping; darker green tent= paid, established camping

lighter blue springs = free, wild hot springs; darker blue springs = paid, established hot springs

Shit to Hit: Utah

A map of favorite places in The Land of Enchantment I’ve been to or want to visit

lighter green tent= free, dispersed camping; darker green tent= paid, established camping

lighter blue springs = free, wild hot springs; darker blue springs = paid, established hot springs

Best Sunset Spots of the Denver Metro Area

Maybe it’s for a cute Tinder date. Maybe it’s for a much-needed solo date.

Red= Boulder metro | Orange= Denver metro

Either way, these are some of the best spots to chase sunsets in the Denver & Boulder metro area.

Colorado Aspen Season

Aspens are magical creatures on paper, but even more spectacular in person.

The season is short, but oh so sweet. Take a leisurely drive with a friend, some hot cider, and a camera.

Yellow= Earliest Season (September 23rd-October 1st)
Light Orange= Early Season
(September 28th-October 10th)
Dark Orange= Mid Season (October 3rd-13th)
Red= Late Season
(October 8th-18th)
Maroon= Latest Season (October 18th-28th)
